Now that I am a little more money-conscious AND nutrition-conscious - I have been limiting my visits. Well, yesterday I decided to treat myself to a post-church snack. I ordered a Grande White Chocolate Mocha w/ nonfat milk and no whip - and a reduced fat banana chip coffee cake. Well - I added in my little 'treats' to myfitnesspal (the app I talked about here) and it turns out I paid ALOT for those! I cannot believe the calories and even worse, the SUGAR!

I think its safe to say that me and Starbucks are going to have to go on a break :-(
It's sad, isn't it? Here's what I do to replace that feeling of indulgence while cutting the calories drastically: I make espresso drinks at home and pull out a frozen butter cookie or two (home-made, of course!) For me, a lot of what I want to purchase at Starbucks is actually the feeling of a break with a little treat, which can be had for far fewer calories!
ReplyDeleteAlthough... I understand not everyone is so obsessed with coffee that they bought an espresso machine. But you can make something like a cafe au lait even without one!

It's hard, I know. I used to be a D and D addict. I still get coffee from there from time to time, but I now do black coffee and nothing else. I will only eat treats I make (NO sugar added. I use agave and raw honey only) The other day, I had a piece of cake, a beer and a slice of pizza at a friends house for their birthday. I felt like UTTER crapola for the entire night after that. It reminded me how bad all that junk is. It was a good reminder that I have made the right choices in my life when I made the changes I made. I will stick to it much better in the future!
ReplyDelete:( I love Starbucks. I guess I'm just going to have to love having ripped abs even more than the deliciousness of pastries and lattes.
